Pearl Jewellry

Pearl jewelry are not only elegant and appealing to the eye, they are considered to offer the power of love, money, protection and luck. Pearls are thought to give wisdom through experience, to quicken the laws of karma and to cement engagements and love relationships.

There are many types of pearls:

Natural Pearls are pearls that are formed without human interference.

Cultured pearls are made when a foreign substance is intentionally inserted into a living oyster. This method was first used in 1893.

Baroque pearls are those with irregular shapes.

Biwa pearls are irregular shaped pearls which forms in the freshwater of Lake Biwa, Japan.

Blister pearls are pearls which grow attached to the inside of the shell.

Fresh water pearls are formed in freshwater and resemble puffed rice.

Seed pearls are small, tiny pearls used in Victorian jewellry and sewn on clothing.

Pearls vary in color and range from white to different shades of white and pink. There are also gray and black pearls which can be matched with your dress.

Each coloration depends on the the type of mollusk and the water where the mollusk lived. Because the nacres is organic, pearls are very sensitive to extreme heat, acids, dryness and humidity. Care should be taken when storing them.

When you think of pearls the immediate color that comes to mind is white pearls. But it is not uncommon to find black pearls as well as illustrated in the above picture.

The Perfect Pair

There’s nothing more fun than dressing up. I feel so fortunate to be a girl because I can wear fancy dresses, put on makeup and don jewelry. Having the perfect outfit for any occasion is great, but there’s nothing better than having a nice pair of earrings to go with it.

The other night I was slated to attend a charity ball. I had bought the perfect ball gown. It was baby pink with snazzy silver fringe hanging from the skirt. My roommate had the perfect pair of pearl earrings to go with it. My outfit was amazing and I had a great time.

PROSPERITY

Like the blue Aquamarine, Emerald is also a beryl but of a green color. Its green color comes from trace amounts of chromium and iron found in it. Green signifies prosperity and abundance. Emeralds are energizing and help you grow both spiritually and mentally. They have long been known for their restorative powers and believed to promote healing and deepen love and commitment.

Generally, there are nine primary or main birthstones - one each for the nine planets and luminaries - as per Indian astrology. They are ruby, pearl, coral, emerald, yellow sapphire, diamond, blue sapphire, ‘gomed’ and cat’s eye for sun, moon, mars, mercury, jupiter, venus, saturn, rahu and ketu respectively.

When and for how long should one wear a birthstone? Opinions differ. Some astrologers prescribe permanent wearing of a birthstone based on the birth chart or birth horoscope while some suggest wearing different birthstones in tune with the operating ‘dasa’ and transit influences. Sometimes, more than one birthstone is prescribed to offset the malefic effects of more than one planet or luminary.

Emeralds make an ideal birthday present for those born in May as it is their birthstone. Emeralds also represent the 55th year of marriage union, celebrate with a yellow gold diamond and emerald ring to mark the occasion. Find an assortment of fine gemstone and gold jewellry here.

Pearls and Gems

Pearls when combined with Gems make a combination of elegance and glamor. That is what I thought when I went for a party the other night and saw all these beautiful women adorned with gold jewellry studded with pearls and gems that complemented their graceful looking saris with elegance and glamor.

It is the tradition of Indian women to wear beautiful jewellry especially after they are married. They never tire of buying jewellry and consider it an investment of their wealth. And when they get together for any kind of festival or celebration it gives them great joy to take out their collection of jewellry and find a set that will match their dress. So when you go to any of the gatherings during such times, their colorful dresses and ornaments are a feast to the eyes of the beholder.

In India 22k gold earrings are more popular while everywhere else in the world it is the 14k gold earrings that are favored. There was one lady who was dressed in a green sari who adorned a beautiful necklace with emerald pendant and another lady who wore a gold necklace with beautiful rubies and zirconium. That reminded me that Hyderabad is the City in India famous for its pearl jewellry sold in Charminar - a place I definitely plan to visit on my next trip there.

Pearl Earrings

Pearls reflect purity because of their white color. There is something about pearls that gives anyone a certain elegance, charm and sophistication. They come in different shapes.

Round: This is the shape most people think of when imagining a pearl. Perfectly round pearls are quite rare and are the most expensive. For hundreds of years many people around the world have thought the round pearl the most beautiful.

Near round: These are closest in relation to the coveted round pearl, but are imperfect in their shapes. Many times these pearls are more spherical than round in shape.

Oval: Many experts call these pearls “symmetrical”. The ends of oval pearls are narrower than the centers.

Drop: These pearls have teardrop or pear shapes. Because of their elongated shape drop pearls make nice earrings or pendants.

Button: These pearls are shaped just like their names. Often the flattened side of the jewel is secured to an earring setting.

Baroque: These may be the least valuable in the pearl family, but they are also the most unique. They come in irregular shapes and sizes and are crafted into affordable jewelry.

Pearl Earrings
when combined with gems radiate elegance and glamor.

Can Anyone Achieve Success in Six Minutes?

I recently joined a program called “sixminutestosuccess”. Looking at the title of this program, the reader probably wonders if it is really possible to achieve success in six minutes. This is a catchy title that prompts one to probe into the meaning of this title. Six minutes to success is really a program conducted by Bob Proctor where he teaches the technique to achieve success. Success is a progressive realization of our ideals. So naturally it behooves us to examine our ideals. These ideals can cover any area of our lives, whether it is financial, personal relationships or personal development. The charm of this program is that you are given a six minute video, prompting you to think of an action plan to achieve your ideal by giving it some thought every day first for six minutes and then carrying over that process of thinking for the rest of the day.
How does this benefit a person? This is one way of programming the mind. We all can understand this concept very well when we think of the way we have been programmed with knowledge given to us through our whole school life. A bit of information has been added to our human data base every day, repetitively and gradually, increasing that knowledgebase. I learn a little bit of the scientific principles in the fifth grade. The same principles are discussed again in 12th grade but it has a lot more information added to the same line of thinking. The same principle is further explained with experiments and conclusions and applications.
I recently joined this program because of the spiritual principles being discussed which really resonated with me. The spiritual principles discussed here are not so uncommon and may seem like nothing new especially to those who are following various schools of philosophy or metaphysics. This program teaches you how to apply those principles to achieve your ideals or goals. To have a secure financial situation is everybody’s ideal and nobody can disagree with that. So this is one of the ideals - secure financial freedom - taken as an example in applying the spiritual principles to. I would like to explain why in this article. Hopefully, I can take each principle in more articles and discuss them from the advaitic point of view.
Bob Proctor talks about reprogramming the subconscious mind and gives a technique to do so. Why is it so important to reprogram the subconscious mind? If we are not getting the results we want then it is not a well written program. However, it takes time to change the program to a new one and this is where the www.sixminutestosuccess.com program works so wonderfully because it helps you develop the right actions that become a habit and give you the desired results. If you want to succeed in life then this is definitely the program that will help you in all your endeavors. For to succeed means to follow thru and this program will definitely harmonize your thought, word and deed to succeed in life. My next article will talk about the importance of the subconscious mind.

If you would like to hear more about the program you can view Bob Proctor explain it beautifully here

Pearl Necklaces

natural-black-pearlimg

As opposed to naturally occurring pearls there are also cultured pearls which simply means that a foreign substance is inserted into the tissue of the oyster and returned to the sea, allowing a cultured pearl to develop naturally. Kokichi Mikimoto is credited with perfecting the technique for artificially stimulating the development of round pearls in the akoya mollusks, receiveing a patent for this technique in 1916. Since then this technique which has been improved is being used to culture akoya pearls as well as freshwater, South Sea and Tahitian pearls.

Akoya pearls are the most traditional type of pearl used in necklaces, but freshwater pearls, Black Tahitian pearls, and large South Sea pearls are also used, often to stunning effect. Akoyas, of course, exhibit the traditional white, silver, or cream colors, while Tahitians and South Sea pearls yield pearl necklaces ranging from bright white to darker tones. Freshwater pearls can be either white or pastel, and are generally more affordable than the saltwater options.
Having a variety of colored pearl strands with different types of pendants helps in combining the different colored strands to suit the many colored outfits in the wardrobe.

Gemstones, Nature Cure and Color Therapy

natural-diamonds-and-blue-topaz

I have been away for a while now since I travelled to India from where I am writing. Travelling is fun but it does take one away from one’s daily routines. I guess that is what makes life interesting - the tackling of situations ‘out of the norm’.

A friend of mine recently sent me an interesting article on ‘color therapy’ as indicated by the philosophy of nature cure. Here is an excerpt from that article:

“Chromotherapy is a method of treatment of diseases by colour. It is best used as a supportive therapy along with other natural methods of preserving health such as correct diet, adequate rest and relaxation, exercise, yogic asanas and so on.
According to practitioners of chromotherapy, the cause of any disease can be traced to the lack of a particular colour in the human system. Colour therapy is a technique of restoring imbalance b means of applying coloured light to the body. It was a popular method of cure even in ancient times. Some 2,500 years ago, Pythagoras applied colour light therapeutically and ‘colour halls’ were used for healing in ancient Egypt, China and India.

The pioneer of modern colour therapy was Niels Finsenof Denmark.Following the discovery, in 1877, of the bactericidal action of solar ultra-violet energy, Finsen studied the possibility of assisting the healing of wounds with visible light. He subse- quently used red light to inhibit the formation of smallpox scars and, in 1896, founded a Light Institute ( now the Finsen Institute of Copenhagen) for the phototreatment of tuberculosis. In 1932, Gerrard and Hessay, two Californian psychologists, scientifically established that blue light had a calming effect and red a stimulating power on human beings.”

How interesting! No wonder it makes sense when astrologers suggest to wear gemstones like rubies, diamonds, emeralds and blue topaz and citrines, etc. for their healing properties on the mind and body!

Beautiful Pearls, Gemstones and Solid GOLD Jewelry

blue-gaghra1400

I love to travel because it makes life all the more interesting. People are the same everywhere, yet it is interesting to see the different life styles and different cultures. It is amazing to see how they differ in their clothes, food and fashions. What has impressed me most in coming to India is that the jewelry in the west and the east is markedly different. Western Jewelry seems to be made with machinery while Jewelry in the East is hand made with intricate designs. One of the unique jewelries is that which is made with the combination of 9 gems which are supposedly helpful in attracting positive planetary influences on the individual. It is called ‘Navaratnas”. You can get these gems set in a 14K gold ring, 14K gold necklace or even gold earrings. The jewelries I found here are as varied as the people.

Hyderabad is one of the upcoming advancing cities in India and there are people of all faiths here. Hyderabad is also popular for their gold, silver and gemstone jewelries. It is best known for its pearls and gems. Additionally, there is beautiful silk clothing with beautiful embroidery. The other day I accompanied another of my nieces on her shopping spree for wedding clothing. And wow! it was simply spectacular. Most of the shops were dazzling with solid gold jewelry studded with gems and fashionable clothing that were both modern and traditional. India is really a charming country with friendly people intermingling in a traditional as well as modern life style. What amazes me is to see the road filled with pedestrians, cyclists, cars, carts and animals all at the same time.

The Best Gem Studded Earrings For My Mom

My mother is now over 79 years of age. She has been alone for the past 25 years and now needs to be taken care of and cannot stay by herself.

I consider it a privilege to have the honor of taking care of her during her fragile state. After all she is my ‘flesh and blood’!

Her body has become old and infirm but she still looks beautiful and bright. Everybody who sees her says so. The other day we went shopping and she liked a pair of gem earrings. She is already wearing a pair of diamond earrings which she has had for decades. But, they are so heavy that they make her ears sag down. So I bought her a new pair of earrings which were light. After all she deserves the best as she is the best mom in the world.

Jewelry A Girl’s Best Friend

Jewelry is a girl’s best friend. Not only does it give her joy but it also becomes her good investment. I guess you can never go wrong with the purchase of jewelry.

Recently, when I visited my brother and his wife, she gave me a set of green stone necklace and earrings set which I had misplaced in her house about twenty years ago when I used to stay with them. I was pleasantly surprised to get them back. However, my interest in costume jewelry gradually shifted to collecting precious gemstone jewelry.

Yesterday, when my maid told me it was her birthday, I presented to her that beautiful costume jewelry which matched perfectly with the green sari she wore. She just turned 24. When I saw her face light up on seeing that jewelry,it pleasantly brought me back my memories of when I was 20 when I had actually bought that jewelry. Life is indeed sweet when you are young. Of course life is always good no matter what your age, if only you have the right attitude to appreciate it.

How About Some Jewelry Shopping?

It is that time of the season when there is excitement in the air what with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner. Once again it is time to think of what gifts are appropriate for whom and go shopping. Jewelry shopping can be fun. I love going into jewelry shops because of all the glitter and beautiful designs. But life has become so fast paced and I am so thankful there is the internet and buying has become as easy as one, two, three. For instance if you go to this site for some Gemstone Jewelry you are sure to find something worth buying without much exertion.

Value of Gold

The other day I went to my best friend’s son’s engagement celebration and it was very interesting. Every marriage has an intersting story behind it. They both fell in love five or six years ago when they first met in College. I couldn’t believe how tall and handsome her son looked and the girl he got engaged to also looks beautiful. My friend gifted her with a beautiful gold chain that looked gorgeous on her. I think that is the best gift one could give a girl because the price of gold is now going up so high - its a great investment! The wealth stays in the family!!

Beautiful jewelry for my beautiful daughter

On my recent trip to India I was so happpy with myself in making good purchases for my daughter who is all grown up now. It was only a few years ago when I would buy her clothes and jewelry and she would wear them without questioning it. However, after she went off to college her tastes changed and it seemed like nothing I bought met her taste in clothes and jewelry.

So naturally, I was so happy when she liked the pearl and gemstone jewelry I bought for her.

Blue Topaz To Overcome The Monday Blues

Every sunday I go through the 'monday blues' just like so many others. It is always
depressing on Sundays to think of going back to work after a wonderful and relaxing weekend, Meditation is one practice that helps to relieve the stress and anxiety.

Talking of Monday Blues reminds me of the blue color. Blue is the color of
calmness and peace. So dressing up in blue and matching the accessories with blue
accessories like Blue topaz Earrings and Blue Pendant would sure give a calm and
soothing effect on the personality.

Blue Topaz is the Texas state gemstone. Blue Topaz is also the birthstone for the month of November.

The blue color relates to the throat chakra. It soothes the throat and helps with your verbal communication. Physically, it will help you to sleep better and also lower your high blood pressure. Blue Topaz inspires leadership ability, psychic knowing, spiritual growth. Topaz acts as a catalytic trigger and activates the laws of attraction and manifestation of your desires. It helps you to have faith in the universes desire to help you, promoting receptivity and willingness to act. It helps one to creatively change ones personal world.

Just wearing the topaz alone ofcourse is not sufficient. Whether one wants to stay in a depressed mood or become cheerful is a matter of choice. If we become aware of our moods and witness it curiously so to speak, then we can make a choice of whether we want to continue to stay in that mood or not. Dressing well and coordinating it with the right accessory also has a positive effect and gives us a sense of self confidence which boosts our spirit.

Topaz is particularly powerful when combined with Amethyst. As the topaz activates the laws of attraction and manifestation, the aethyst transforms the energies into spiritual vibrations to produce a soothing, clearing and stabilizing effect. It helps to replace negativity with love and joyfulness.

Gemstone jewelry gives that added radiance to the body and so next time around when you feel the Monday blues, pay particular attention to your dress and the kind of accessory you choose to enhance your looks that will boost your self confidence and get you out of the Monday blues.

Gemstone Jewelry and It's use

Wearing jewelry is a choice. It is really an accessory to our clothing that gives beauty to the overall appearance.

While we eat what we want to please ourselves, we wear clothes and jewelry to give others a pleasing look of ourselves. But the truth of the matter is that it is not only pleasing to others but it also has a beneficial effect on our body and mind. To say the least, who does'nt feel confident when they know they look beautiful!?

Ayurveda is a name given to traditional Indian medicine. Similar knowledge is presented in other countries as 'alternative medicine or healing'. The word 'Ayurveda' literally means 'science of life' and it incorporates many treatments including Gemstone therapy, massage therapy, color therapy and aromatherapy.

In using Gemstones for healing of different conditions, Ayurvedic astrology recommends different gemstones according to ones birth chart. These Gemstones include Garnet, Amethyst,Diamond, Agate, Pearl, Ruby, Sapphire,Moonstone, Opal and Topaz.

Many of the astrologers recommend using these Gemstones either daily or during times of detrimental planetary effects. Some of these stones are combined in jewelry articles to cure physical and psychological diseases. In my case about five years ago, when he noted according to my birth chart that I had personal relationship problems, an atrologer recommended a particular size Emerald set in gold to be worn on my pinky finger. They do get quite specific while recommending such solutions. I was reminded of this fact when recently many people started commenting that my Emerald ring was beautiful. You can find out which Gemstone suits best your horoscope by consulting an astrologer. An Emerald supposedly makes the wearer wise and intelligent. It increases the wearers wealth and prosperity and blesses with children, protects one from evil and is beneficial for good eye sight.

All Mothers Are The GEMS OF LIFE

Mother's day is coming up on May 9th, 2010. It was almost a century ago that a day of celebration was set aside for appreciating Mothers and declared as Mother's day and it was officially recognized so in 1914 by President Woodrow Wilson.

What is a gem? I am a philosopher, so naturally I try to find meaning for everything I do in life. So, to me life gems are those things that are of value which are precious - like Gemstones. It takes thousands of years for Gems to form naturally in Nature. When I think of Gems I naturally think of Diamonds. There is a subhashitam, "well-said or wise saying" in Sanskrit.

"Harder than the diamond and softer than the flower
Who indeed deserves to (or is able to) understand the hearts of great people?"

I love subhashitams because a lot of meaning is packed in a few terse lines. The implications in the above subhashitam is that great people have hearts harder than a diamond and softer than a flower because their hearts shine with purity radiating beauty and lustrous energy everywhere like a diamond and yet their hearts are full of compassion and soft like a flower. Diamonds take millions of years to form under enormous heat and pressure and are found in volcanic magma that deposits in pipes (wide openings in the earth) or are washed away either by erosion or by nearby waters and are known as 'alluvial deposits.' The diamond is compressed carbon in its purest form.

All mothers are great people because they endure like the Mother Earth, a lot of abuse and hardship in their lives in terms of carrying the burden of the child for 9 months and toiling day in and day out for the care of the child. And through it all, they maintain a pleasant countenance and radiate beauty with wisdom and compassion toward their family. A house without a mother indeed is considerably pale and lifeless. That is why I call them gems of life and yes, everyone should count their blessings by appreciating them at least on Mother's day.

Coming back to the Sanskrit subhashitam, Who is able to understand great people? Only those who know the 'value' of life gems. To one who does not understand, even a diamond can look like a piece of glass. But one who is aware of human values only can recognize the greatness of a superior being who develops great human values after deep contemplation and hardship in life.

Diamonds can be appreciated only by those who know the value of diamonds and who are refined in their aesthetic sense to recognize its beauty. Diamonds, alone by themselves or in combination with other gems, make excellent gifts to give to that someone special in your life or for that special occasion of an anniversary, engagement or graduation or for no reason at all. What a wonderful way to show how much value you give to your friendship or relationship! Diamonds are forever indeed. The giver of a gift is as much blessed as the receiver of the gift.

Did you know diamonds come in all colors besides white? Take a look at these gold earrings with round black diamonds.

AQUAMARINE THE BIRTHSTONE FOR MARCH

Aquamarine a light blue colored gemstone is the birthstone for the month of March. A Gemstone is really an attractive piece of mineral which when cut and polished can be used in making jewelry. As I was saying earlier gemstones absorb light and emit rays of different colors which are healing to the body. That is why they are also called 'healing gems'.Aquamarine is a beryl with the impurity of iron in it which causes it to emit blue light. The throat chakra in the body also is said to be light blue. Aquamarine helps to rejuvenate the throat chakra where the thyroid gland is located. It also stimulates the throat chakra and helps to connect the mind and heart and opens your consciousness to the ocean of knowledge, wisdom and creativity within.
