They say the body is the temple of God. They also say body is
nothing but dead matter without Consciousness.
So really then Consciousness IS God - the Almighty, Omnipotent,
Omnipresent and Omniscient force that resides in the body and
hence, the body is the temple of God. Another reason why Consciousness
is God is that this Consciousness is common to all humankind including all
living beings finding its highest expression in the human body. There is only
one consciousness and no plural although there are multitude of living beings
expressing themselves through that One Consciousness. That is the reason
why everyone identifies themselves with that one word, "I". Hence it is only
that person who realizes the full potential of that one consciousness is the
'Self-realized' soul! The multitude of beings in the Universe are like the sparks
emanating from that One Fire of Consciousness.
The nature of this Consciousness, being One and Omnipotent, Omnipresent and Omniscient,
is really abundance, and it is the sovereign emperor of all that is. The faces of
those who are in tune with their consciousness radiate a shining beauty and intelligence
that cannot go unnoticed. They shine like a high voltage bulb. The differences in the
radiance of different people is reflective of the difference in their attunement with their
Consciousness and expresses itself like the different voltage bulbs that are
bright or dim depending on the strength of the electricity that is flowing through
them and the size of the bulb and its transparency. It is through the power of their
Consciousness that they attract all good things of life to themselves. This is how
they become surrounded by material wealth and flourish in abundance
- not only material wealth but also mental, emotional, psychological and spiritual.
Mentally, they develop a positive attitude because they never focus on the negative.
Even if a negative thought arises they never dwell on it too long and are able to
move on with a positive attitude. Emotionally, sharing their own inner strength,
courage and love, they become pillars of strength for others.
Psychologically, they influence positively their circle of friends and associates.
They become wealthy in noble qualities such as courage, patience, tolerance,
generosity, compassion and selfless love.
Spiritually they are endowed with great will power, knowledge and creative energy.
It is this power of Consciousness that is reflected in the symbol of Lakshmi,
the Hindu Goddess of Wealth. It is also said that when you do not respect Lakshmi,
She will leave you. That is to say when you do not do everything in your power to
preserve this abundance, you lose your wealth in terms of your health, general well
being and material possessions. Respecting Lakshmi means showing your gratitude for
all the wealth you have, and living in harmony in your thought, word and deed. You
also preserve it by expanding your individual consciousness, to experience that
supreme Cosmic Consciousness by experiencing the Oneness of all being. It is then
that abundance flows freely into one's life through that Supreme Consciousness.
